Help & FAQ

Scriptory is in public beta. Things will change, break, and improve. Here's what you might want to know as you explore.

What is Scriptory?

Scriptory is a social platform for visual storytelling. This could mean movies, tv shows, theatrical plays, video games, etc. It’s also built for writers working in longform formats like novels and fanfiction. The goal of Scriptory is to give creators one shared space where storytelling and worldbuilding can live together. We’re in public beta, which means things are still evolving and your feedback directly shapes what the platform becomes.

Who is behind Scriptory?

Scriptory is currently being built by a small team. Every feature you see is being iterated on in real time with early creators like you.

Do I have to be a screenwriter to use Scriptory?

Not at all. Scriptory is used by screenwriters, novelists, fan-fiction writers, role-players, and people who just love building story worlds.

If you enjoy imagining characters, scenes, relationships, or alternate universes — Scriptory is built for that process, whether or not your work ever becomes a finished script.

Can I post fan fiction or fandom-based stories on Scriptory?

Yes. Scriptory welcomes fan fiction, fandom writing, and story projects inspired by existing worlds. Many creators use Scriptory to write scenes, explore alternate storylines, or build worldboards around stories, shows, movies, games, or books they love.

Scriptory isn’t limited to “industry” work, but a creative space for storytelling in all forms, including fanfiction projects.

Is Scriptory like AO3 or Wattpad?

Scriptory overlaps with platforms like AO3 and Wattpad, but it focuses more on visual storytelling and worldbuilding. While AO3 is centered on archiving fanworks and Wattpad on serialized reading, Scriptory gives creators space to combine writing with visual inspiration, mood, and story structure.

What are worldboards, and how do fandom creators use them?

Worldboards are visual collections that help bring a story world to life. Fandom creators often use them to collect aesthetics, characters, locations, outfits, mood references, or alternate-universe concepts tied to stories they love.

You can build worldboards alongside scripts or writing, or use them on their own as a way to explore and reimagine existing fictional worlds.

Where can I share my writing or story ideas online?

Scriptory is a place to share writing, story ideas, scripts, and fandom projects in one space. You can post finished work, works-in-progress, or visual worldboards that explore a story before it’s written.

Whether you’re sharing fan fiction, original stories, or experimental ideas, Scriptory lets you decide what’s public, what’s private, and when you’re ready to share.

Why does it feel a bit empty?

You’re here early. Scriptory is still in beta, so the platform might feel quiet at first. We don’t have many scripts, worldboards, or takes yet simply because most creators haven’t arrived. As more people join, the feed will fill out fast. What you share now directly influences the culture and creative direction of the community.

Who owns the scripts, videos, and images I upload?

You do. Creators keep full ownership of their work. Scriptory is a place to share and showcase your stories, not to take rights away from you. You can remove your content at any time.

What if I see something that might infringe copyright?

If you believe something on Scriptory infringes your rights (or someone else's), please email contact@thescriptory.com. We review reports and remove content when appropriate.

I found a bug. What should I do?

This is expected since we are still in Beta. Please take a screenshot if you can and send a quick message to contact@thescriptory.com. Include what you were trying to do and what happened.

Can I request new features?

Yes, please. Send your wish list to contact@thescriptory.com and feel free to include links or screenshots for context.

How do I delete my account or content?

You can delete your account and manage your content from the Settings page. If you get stuck or something doesn't work as expected, email contact@thescriptory.com and we'll help.
